L. T. Hampel Corporation was founded by Lance Hampel in 1976 as a contract thermoformer for OEM manufacturers. From the very beginning, Hampel Corp. has been providing high quality, innovatively formed plastic parts that meet or exceed exacting customer standards. As a testament to Hampel Corp.’s quality and innovative practices, many of the original customers served in 1976 are still being served today. This long term service is a demonstration of Hampel Corp.’s dedication and focus on exceptional quality and remarkable service. Today, Hampel Corp. is organized into two strategic business units - Molded Solutions and Hampel Animal Care.
Molded Solutions
The Molded Solutions segment provides: thermoforming processes, material expertise, design, engineering, tool and fixture design, development and an extensive list of value added secondary operations. Hampel Molded Solutions serves multiple industries. A small cross section of industries served includes: agriculture, outdoor recreational, waste management and transportation.
Hampel Animal Care
Hampel’s Animal Care segment provides calf care products, consisting of Calf-Tel, the world’s leading provider of calf housing solutions, calf raising consultancy and the VibraLife calf care product line, which currently serves the domestic and international dairy markets.
Operational Excellence
Lean and quality initiatives have shaped and formed Hampel’s present day philosophies surrounding operational excellence. Like many companies, this philosophy is rooted in instilling leadership, teamwork and problem solving skills in all aspects of Hampel’s efforts resulting in continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Lean Manufacturing
Innovate or die is a mantra that has permeated all facets of Hampel’s business. Hampel recognized long ago that in order to survive in today’s highly competitive global economy, non-valued added activities must be removed from processes and procedures. Thus began Hampel’s lean journey. All manufacturing cells are configured for continuous flow. Other tenants of lean, including 6S, value stream mapping and Kanban are employed daily. Realizing that lean is a journey not a destination, Hampel continues to make improvements every day.
